Saratoga Hospital, part of the Albany Med Health System, is proud to announce it has been awarded Magnet recognition by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) for the fifth time, with nine distinctions, reaffirming its place among the nation’s elite healthcare institutions.
Since first earning Magnet designation in 2004, the hospital has repeatedly demonstrated exceptional performance in nursing excellence, patient outcomes, and innovation in professional nursing practice. Previous redesignations occurred in 2010, 2015, and 2020.
“This fifth Magnet recognition is a powerful reflection of our nurses’ unwavering dedication to excellence, innovation, and compassionate care,” said President and CEO Jill VanKuren. “It speaks to the strength of the entire team and their commitment to providing the highest quality of care to every patient, every day.”
Magnet designation is widely regarded as the gold standard in nursing. Fewer than 10% of U.S. hospitals have ever received this honor, and fewer still, under 3%, have done so five times or more. Achieving this milestone reflects sustained investment in nursing achievement including education and certification, professional development, and innovative practices.
Magnet designation is one of the U.S. News & World Report’s criteria for ranking hospitals, signifying excellence in inpatient care.
