Go Anywhere Dog Shares Guide to Puppy Development and Training at Home

Oct 30, 2026

The Eden Prairie school connects practical skills, social learning and family coaching for Twin Cities puppy families.

-- Go Anywhere Dog has published a guide for Twin Cities families comparing puppy boot camp, board-and-train and professional help at home. The puppy-development guide asks families to consider how a program supports a growing puppy, how it responds when that puppy struggles, and how the learning will carry into everyday life with the people who live with the dog.

The Eden Prairie school brings those questions into off-leash classes and private training. Coaches help puppies build practical and social skills while helping people understand what they are seeing, adjust the next step and practice a response they can use at home.

Puppy training decisions often begin with immediate needs such as play biting, house training or a difficult walk. Go Anywhere Dog’s puppy-development guide places those needs in a longer developmental context. It explains why a young puppy’s learning requires time and why families should consider where practice happens, how the dog is supported, and how the learning will carry into everyday routines.

Founded by Jody Karow, CTC, Go Anywhere Dog uses the registered framework Boundaries Without Trauma. Coaches consider development, learning history and present state, as well as the person’s timing and ability to respond. A puppy may need support with upset and further teaching at the same time. Protection and appropriate boundaries begin immediately; feedback for a missed cue depends on relevant fluency and what the dog can manage in that moment. Training uses reinforcement and humane limits, without pain, fear or intimidation.

The human’s learning is central to that work. Knowing a rule and managing a difficult moment are different demands for the person, too. Coaches help families notice their own expectations and responses, choose manageable steps and practice with support. Families leave with guidance they can use when the coach is not beside them, from the kitchen to the neighborhood sidewalk.

At the Eden Prairie school, coached play and focused skill practice are intertwined throughout the class program. Dogs interact with classmates, reconnect with their people for practical work, and return to play. Excitement, social interaction, pauses and recovery give coaches something real to work with. They adjust the pairing, distance or task, help families notice what changed, and arrange another manageable attempt.

Puppies under 16 weeks begin with Puppy & Me. Eligible older puppies begin in Life Skills 101 and progress through 201 and 301. Outings extend practice into everyday environments. The school offers separate small-dog groups and coaches play according to the dogs’ size, style and comfort.

Families seeking individual help can choose Puppy Start at Home, with three family-coaching visits and participation at every visit, or larger programs in which a coach leads more of the practice. Ultimate Puppy Training Packages combine 10 or 20 private sessions with the age-appropriate class journey, three separate group Outings, a 30-minute Zoom consultation and at-home learning support.

In Ultimate, the puppy continues living at home. A coach can lead many private sessions, while families join at least two sessions in the 10-session program or at least four in the 20-session program. Family participation connects professional practice to daily life. Private outings count toward the selected private sessions; the three group Outings are additional.

Professional help does not remove every difficult moment from puppyhood. GAD helps families provide safety, support and connection when difficulty occurs, so dogs can recover and try again. The aim includes building resilience alongside useful skills. Scheduled private training and classes provide help while puppies remain with their families; they are not overnight boarding or all-day care.

Group classes take place at 14500 Martin Drive, Suite 1500, in Eden Prairie. Private puppy training and dog behavior help serve Minneapolis and western and southwestern Twin Cities suburbs. Families can contact the school with their dog’s age, ZIP code, training needs and preferred timing to check the appropriate starting point and current availability.
